“Every time you silence somebody you make yourself a prisoner of your own action, because you deny yourself the right to hear something.”
The late Christopher Hitchens, addressing an audience on the ever-important subject of freedom of speech.

Thank you for posting this speech. It is soul searching, soul regrouping, and soul reaffirming, at a time when we all need it to remind ourselves why we are so upset about what’s happened in France this week.

Many thanks to you as well David, as always, for reading and taking the time to comment. This has been a truly horrific week, for lovers of peace everywhere and for supporters of the fundamental right to free speech.
I always love reading or listening to Christopher Hitchens, and though I am of the Catholic faith myself, his criticisms of religion are intelligent and serious, and a powerful reminder of why we all depend on the right to speak our minds.
