The Best Things In Life

Taking a break from the usual stuff, it’s important to remember that there is far more to this life than work, politics and writing.

And so, on the third anniversary of my marriage to my wonderful wife Jenny, my rock, here’s our wedding song and a great tune – “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys.

Semi-Partisan Politics will be going relatively quiet for the remainder of June, having blogged extensively throughout the 2015 general election campaign. Thanks for all of the emails, comments, tweets and other messages, but most of all simply for reading.

Yes a great song. Happy Anniversary to you both. My wife and I are coming up to our 28th anniversary in August. Our song – the first dance at the evening reception – was “Stay With Me Till Dawn” by Judie Tzuke, which still gives me shivers after all these years, and not just because of the weight of its significance! At the church wedding service, during the signing of the register, my original suggestion for the organist was “You’re A Lady” by Peter Skellern, until I studied the lyrics a bit more and came to the line “I’m not asking you to marry me” – not such a good idea then.

Many thanks David, both for the kind anniversary wishes and for being a long-time reader of this blog.

Just had a listen to “Stay With Me Till Dawn” as I was unfamiliar with it (still trying to close big gaps in my musical knowledge). Great song – I love the strings toward the end.

All the best to you, and please do keep reading!
